Black Magic Flat Pedals

The Black Magic pedals are equipped with a single bushing on the inner side and a 686 cartridge bearing (6mm x 13mm x 5mm) on the outer side.

To keep your pedals in top shape, we provide Axle Replacement Kits and Pedal Pin Kits as available spare parts.

The platform dips slightly towards the middle, so the sole of your shoe settles into the pedal instead of sitting flat on top of it. That increases the contact area and stops your foot sliding forwards and backwards over rough ground. It is the main reason a flat pedal can feel locked in without needing very long pins.

Seven replaceable pins per side. Spares are sold as the Black Magic Pin Kit. Pins are a consumable on any flat pedal — a rock strike will bend or shear one long before the body or the bearings show any wear, so keeping a kit on the shelf is worth it.

Both have a composite body, a CrMo axle on the same bearing arrangement, and a concave platform. The Black Magic is 103 x 98mm and 17mm thick, with a 63mm Q factor, seven replaceable pins a side and 360g a pair. The Taipan is slightly larger and noticeably thinner at 105 x 100mm and 14mm, with a 62mm Q factor and ten pins a side — four moulded, six replaceable — at 380g. Take the Taipan if you want the lower profile and more pins.
