G-Wide Gravel Handlebar

Yes, it is a flared drop bar built for gravel. The stem clamp is the standard 31.8mm, so it will physically bolt to most mountain bike stems — but a drop bar changes your reach and puts the controls somewhere completely different, so it is not a straight swap onto an MTB. It belongs on a gravel or adventure bike running drop-bar levers.

Flare is how far the drops angle outwards from the hoods. At 25° the G-Wide is a lot — the effect is that your hands sit much wider apart when you are down in the drops, which is exactly where you want the extra leverage and stability on a loose descent. It also rolls the lever bodies slightly inward, which most riders find more natural on the hoods, and it keeps your wrists clear of the bar tops when the ground gets rough.

Reach is how far forward the bar curves before it turns down — it sets how far you stretch to the hoods. Drop is how far below the bar tops your hands end up. The G-Wide runs 110mm of reach and 130mm of drop, which is a moderate, usable shape rather than a deep racing bend: you can spend real time in the drops without it becoming a stretch, which matters on gravel where the drops are the descending position, not just the sprinting one.

480mm at 333g, or 500mm at 337g, both with a 31.8mm clamp and 6° of backsweep on the tops. Remember the flare means the drops finish wider than the quoted figure, so a G-Wide feels broader in the hand than a conventional bar of the same number. If you are coming off a 440mm road bar, the 480 is the safer step.

Use the torque figure printed on your stem's faceplate — it is the stem that sets it, not the bar — and use a torque wrench rather than going by feel. Tighten the bolts a little at a time in a criss-cross pattern so the gap stays even top and bottom. Set the bar angle before you tape it: on a flared bar, small changes in rotation move the hoods a surprising amount, so it is worth riding it once untaped to be sure.
